A patent has been obtained by a team of employees of the Biotechnology Laboratory - Diagnostic Center of IEVSSFE SB RAS for a method of detecting toxigenic variants of Clostridium perfringens. The described method involves performing a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using a set of oligonucleotides complementary to the sequences of the RpoA and AgrD genes, which are primers and probes SEQ ID NO: 1-6, with the results being interpreted based on the presence of the fluorescence curve crossing the threshold line.
The present invention provides high sensitivity and specificity in differentiating toxigenic and non-toxigenic strains of Clostridium perfringens. The use of this method in veterinary laboratories will significantly increase the efficiency of diagnosing clostridiosis in cattle.
