SFSCA RAS is organized in accordance with the Order of the Federal Agency for Scientific Organizations (FASO) of Russia dated September 30, 2015. No. 496, according to which the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Siberian Branch of Agrarian Science" (FSBI SB AS) was transformed into the Federal State Budgetary Institution of Science Siberian Federal Scientific Centre of Agro-BioTechnologies of the Russian Academy of Sciences with the accession of the FSBSI "Institute of Experimental Veterinary Science of Siberia and the Far East", FSBSI "Siberian Research and Technological Design Institute of Animal Husbandry", FSBSI "Siberian Research Institute of Fodder Crops", FSBSI "Siberian Research Institute of Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture", FSBSI "Siberian Research Technological Design Institute of Processing of Agricultural Products", FSBSI "Siberia Physical and Engineering Institute of Agrarian Issues", FSBSI "Siberian Research Institute of Agricultural Economics", FSBSI "Kemerovo Research Institute of Agriculture", FSBSI "Siberian Research Institute of Agriculture and Peat", FSBSI "Siberian Research Institute of Soil Management and Chemicalization of Agriculture", FSBSI "Research Institute of Veterinary Science of Eastern Siberia".
FSBI SB AS was the legal successor of the Siberian Branch of the V.I. Lenin All-Union Academy of Agricultural Sciences (SB VASKhNIL) established in accordance with the Decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR dated November 14, 1969 No. 887.
In those distant years, each institute included in the Siberian Branch of the VASKhNiL opened a postgraduate school to train scientific personnel the lack of which was acutely felt in the conditions of rapid development of Siberia and the Far East. The united chair of social sciences and foreign languages (order No. 145-k), later renamed into the chair of foreign languages and philosophy, was opened at the Presidium of the Siberian Branch of VASKhNiL on September 10, 1973 to solve a set of problems on the organization of postgraduate studies. The initiator of its opening was the first chairman of the Presidium of SB VASKhNiL academician Sinyagin I.I. The basis for the creation of the department was the well-proven model of training of scientific personnel in SB AS USSR. From that moment the traditions of systematic and purposeful training of young scientists were born.
More than 4000 postgraduate students and applicants have been trained and taken candidacy examinations in the SFSCA RAS for the whole period of educational activity, many of whom are fruitfully working in scientific and educational institutions of the country.
The founder of the SFSCA RAS is the Russian Federation. The functions and powers of the SFSCA RAS Founder on behalf of the Russian Federation are exercised by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
