Dear Colleagues!
Exactly 55 years ago, the Siberian Branch of VASKhNIL was established by the Decree of the USSR Council of Ministers No. 867 of November 14, 1969. The Department was headed by Academician Irakli Ivanovich Sinyagin. Thanks to his efforts and the support of his associates, it was possible to create a unique scientific organization in the heart of Siberia, which for many years determined the development of the entire agro-industrial complex from the Urals to the Pacific Ocean.
The Siberian Branch of VASKhNIL produced a whole pleiad of outstanding scientists-academicians who made a great contribution to the development of agriculture. Despite various transformations, the staff of the Siberian Branch of VASKhNIL and its successor – the Siberian Federal Centre of Agro-BioTechnologies of the Russian Academy of Sciences – has retained the main principles of work laid down at the foundation of the scientific organization: accuracy, responsibility, the possibility of practical application of the results of scientific developments.
During these years, the staff of the Siberian Branch of the SFSCA RAS received 2571 patents and certificates, 1589 varieties were created in the field of crop production; 1241 scientific developments were completed in the field of agriculture; 23 breeds and 32 (15) types (lines) of animals were created in the field of animal husbandry; 1654 scientific developments were completed in the field of veterinary medicine; 1237 scientific developments were completed in the field of economics; 518 experimental samples of equipment, 102 items of devices and appliances were created in the field of mechanization and informatization of agricultural production.
Special attention is paid to work with young scientists. The Center has a dissertation council, postgraduate and doctoral studies. In recent years, in spite of any difficulties and challenges, the Center has been actively developing international cooperation with both near and far abroad countries.
We have a lot to be proud of, but everyday life poses new challenges. It is necessary to build up our capabilities in breeding, veterinary medicine, seed production, to stimulate the transition to modern domestic equipment and machinery, to create conditions for further inflow of investments.
I wish the SFSCA RAS staff new scientific achievements, fruitful work, development, success and prosperity! I thank you for your hard and important work, for the desire to revive and multiply the best national agrarian traditions!
Director of the SFSCA RAS, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Education, Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Science in Biology K.S. Golokhvast
