Under the initiative of the SFSCA RAS Director Kirill Golokhvast the “Linden alley dedicated to front-line scientists” appeared along the experimental fields of the agrarian center of Siberia dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the VICTORY. Dozens of talented people after participation in the World War II came to serve the science and made a huge contribution to the development and formation of the agrarian industry of the country. Today, the Center's scientists and Krasnobsk residents planted 280 heart-shaped linden trees in memory of their heroic deeds.
Tree planting is a favorite labor for SFSCA RAS scientists, which brings fruit and joy not only to the residents of the settlement, but also to its guests. The management of SFSCA RAS would like to thank the residents and the head of the working settlement of Krasnoobsk Denis Zelentsov for supporting the project.
According to Vera Alexandrovna Petruk, the leading researcher of the SFSCA RAS, linden is one of the most attractive trees that can be used to form an alley. Linden has a lot of advantages and almost complete absence of problems and disadvantages. This is confirmed by the ubiquitous presence of linden in the gardens of different cities and in the central alley of Krasnoobsk, by the way, this alley was also planted by scientists of the Center, the first residents of the settlement.
Linden is a renowned mellifer, blooming beautifully in the first half of July for two weeks with fragrant yellowish-white flowers. The size of the tree is moderate (within three or four generations at least). That said, the tree is durable, not prone to falling over from wind or old age.
