This summer, a group of schoolchildren actively immersed themselves in an agronomic experience under the guidance of a scientist from the SFSCA RAS, Candidate of Science in Agriculture, Svetlana Burlakova. The students carried out preparatory work, set up laboratory experiments, and monitored the disease incidence in seed materials. In July, they had the opportunity to participate in crop treatments during the growing season. In August, the students will learn to analyze leaf and stem diseases, as well as root rot, and will assess plant survival rates.
The schoolchildren dried and weighed the plants to determine their biomass and calculate its growth by phases: 2 leaves, tillering, and flowering. Special attention was paid to studying the effect of seed treatment on the development of root rot during the tillering phase.
Our goal is to prepare future specialists for writing research papers. Stay tuned for updates and support young researchers!
