Vladimir Putin met with the heads of the leading engineering schools that are being established in Russia.
LES (leading engineering schools) is a federal project created in 2022 on the initiative of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. Its goal is to provide high-performance export-oriented sectors of the country's economy with highly qualified personnel to achieve its technological independence, as well as to create the latest types of high-tech products in partnership with business.
At the end of June 30 universities from 15 regions became the winners of the project " Leading Engineering Schools" according to the results of the competitive selection. One of the schools was formed on the basis of the Tomsk State University, Kirill Golokhvast headed the Tomsk LES project.
At the meeting with the President of Russia, the Director of SFSCA RAS spoke about the effectiveness of cooperation between the two major Siberian centers of SFSCA RAS and the Tomsk State University within the framework of the LES project:
"We need to get the personnel who will be engaged in the science of the new direction. Now agriculture, like the military sphere, consumes all the latest technologies. Therefore, we need molecular geneticists, bioengineers, and computer scientists. The partners also have an understandable motivation - for obvious reasons, the seed material now comes with risks. In order to solve all the issues, we have designed several major key projects. For example, it is a deep processing of grain with access to biodegradable plastic. This technology does not currently exist in our country, but we are going to create it. JSC "Sibagro" is building a huge plant in the Krasnoyarsk region, which will be launched in 2024. We are training hundreds of people for them right now";
As Vladimir Putin noted, "agriculture has become a high-tech industry, efficient and competitive on the world markets".
The Minister of Agriculture reported that this year we will have a very good harvest - we have already harvested 130 million. This is also thanks to the equipment and technologies. The efficiency has increased dramatically. I want to thank the farmers for this year's results, although they are not yet final. What has been done is already good. It is always very important, but today it is very important for Russia and for our country in particular," the President added.
